What to Expect on a Fujairah Diving Trip
A comprehensive guide to diving Fujairah’s east coast: boat trips, typical visibility, water temperatures, and key marine species you will encounter.

Fujairah is the undisputed diving capital of the UAE. Located on the East Coast along the Gulf of Oman, it offers access to natural coral reefs, rocky outcrops, and marine life that you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Here is a guide to planning your Fujairah diving day trip.
The Daily Routine
A typical diving day trip to Fujairah starts early. If you are traveling from Dubai, the drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours through scenic mountain passages. You will arrive at the dive center, check in, assemble your gear, and board the purpose-built dive speedboats. Most trips include a two-tank dive itinerary, returning to the shore by early afternoon for lunch and socialising.
Water Conditions & Visibility
Fujairah’s conditions can vary based on the season:
- Visibility: Typically ranges from 5 to 15 meters. It is influenced by tides, winds, and plankton blooms, which bring in larger pelagic species.
- Water Temperature: Varies from 21°C in the winter months (January–March) up to 30°C in the summer (July–September). A 3mm to 5mm wetsuit is generally suitable depending on the season.
- Currents: Mostly mild to moderate, making the sites accessible for Open Water divers, though certain wreck sites are better suited for Advanced divers due to depth and occasional strong currents.
What Marine Life Will You See?
Fujairah is teeming with biodiversity. Divers frequently encounter green sea turtles resting on the reefs, schools of yellowtail snapper, cuttlefish, and various moray eels. If you are lucky, you might spot blacktip reef sharks circling Dibba Rock, or even a whale shark passing through during plankton-rich months.
Top Dive Sites to Visit
Some of the most popular spots include Dibba Rock (excellent for shallow dives, corals, and turtles), Hole in the Wall (famous for its rocky swim-throughs), and Inchcape 1 (a historic wreck sitting at 30 meters, perfect for advanced wreck enthusiasts).
