AI answers in search and chat assistants have created a wave of “AI optimisation” tricks. Most of what helps is less exotic: clear, well-structured, verifiable content that machines can access and people can trust.
Answer the question directly
Put a plain, complete answer near the top of the section that addresses it, then add detail. Content that states a clear answer, with the conditions and exceptions spelled out, is easier for any system to extract accurately.
Be consistent about who you are
Use the same name, description, location and profiles across your site, your social accounts and directories. Consistent entity information helps systems connect mentions of you or your brand with confidence.
Show your evidence
Cite sources, show dates, name authors and link to original data. Claims that can be traced are safer to repeat, for a model and for a reader.
Keep structured data honest
Schema markup should describe what is visible on the page, nothing more. It helps machines interpret content, but it is not a shortcut to being cited.
Decide on crawler access deliberately
- Check robots.txt rules for the AI crawlers you do and don’t want to allow.
- Make sure key content is in the HTML, not only rendered by JavaScript.
- Watch server logs to see which crawlers actually visit.
None of this guarantees a citation. But it is the same work that makes content rank and convert, which is the best reason to do it.
